Workshop: KuneKunes pt. 3

  • Slow Farm Stanton Hill Road Cameron, NC (map)

The third of Slow Farm’s three-part Kune workshop series! Curious about adding Kunekunes to your life? This is a great place to start!

Kunekunes are docile, slow growing grazing pigs with extremely efficient metabolisms that can turn grass, forage, and a tiny amount of grain into gourmet, ruby red, marbled pork. In this workshop we’ll observe and discuss the basics of raising kunes for meat, including health, shelters, fencing, growth and nutrition. Join us for a casual, informative introduction to breeding Kunes, followed by light snacks and beverages on the porch.

We understand this is a difficult issue for some, but we also support people’s desire to raise humane, healthy meat for their families.

Cost: $15 per car (max four occupants) to be paid in cash that day prior to the workshop starting.

Space is limited to 25 registrants/cars. To reserve your spot please email and tell us WHICH WORKSHOP you’d like to attend and how many people you plan to bring. Please do not Facebook message.

Attire: we will be outside walking, standing, and sitting on the ground. Please wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers or boots- no sandals!) and clothes you don’t mind getting very dirty.

Weather: If it rains the event will be rescheduled. If it is hot please make sure to bring water and stay hydrated.

Children: Kunes enjoy kids, and children are welcome to attend this workshop with their parents or guardians. We will instruct everyone on how to interact with the pigs by speaking softly and moving slowly. Parents should use their discretion deciding whether their children are old enough to follow these directions without being disruptive or endangering themselves. Please help us keep your children safe.
